WHY CONTRIBUTE

The facts are: local, state and federal support of oral and maxillofacial surgery training programs is declining nationwide. Maintaining a state-of-the-art research lab frequently requires funds unavailable from highly restricted grants. Corporate and grant support has diminished significantly. Because of decreasing salaries and uncompensated trauma and indigent care, additional funds are required for augmented stipends to attract, train, and retain academic faculty for our program.

Your generosity is a way to support an educational program that has a significant impact on the future of the specialty of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The Department graduates 9 trainees each year.

It appears that the best way to assure high-quality training of future oral and maxillofacial surgeons is through private funding. The University of Texas Katz Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at Houston provides treatment for oral and maxillofacial trauma in the Medical Center facilities for Harris and some adjoining counties. Much of that care is provided at little or no compensation.

The Department is a resource for continuing education and consultation for private practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the State of Texas and elsewhere.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION WOULD ENSURE

  • Retention and support of faculty, residents and fellows for excellence in teaching and research
  • Enhancement and provision of capital equipment and educational materials
  • Clinical research
  • Faculty salary augmentation
  • Support of continuing education
  • Enhanced levels of patient care
